Our cornerstone program Dad's Toolbox program which is an 8-week Parental Enrichment Course which targets young minority males ages 18-35. However the program is open to all non-custodial parents with minor children. This program is designed to help noncustodial Dad's Connect better with their kids. According to US Department of health, CDC 60.3 percent of parents in the district of columbia are in single parent households. We also know from the United States census that the district of columbia has a high poverty rate 17.3 well above the national average 13.5. Although the Districts crime rates have been falling, they are still very high 1,373 reported in 2017 by DC MPD. What we know from research is that father-absent home children are more likely to suffer abuse and neglect, have behavioral problems, commit crimes, become pregnant as teens, use drugs, suffer from obesity, drop out of high school and the list continues (National Fatherhood Institute). Parenthood Justice League expects to see a decrease in social ills within the district of columbia due to our programming.
